I decided to throw in a
Made By ME Monday today!
I saw this idea HERE, and decided that I could do it!

First of all, my sister was getting rid of a shutter a couple of weeks ago! YIPEE! It came to me brown...

I sprayed it white, stained it...

and ended up with a super cute Christmas card holder!
I love it!

(the cute families on the Christmas cards make it even cuter!!)

Mandy from Vintage Revivals
made this gorgeous faux fireplace, from old cabinet doors. Congrats to Mandy for all of your hard work! This is such a great idea for those of us who don't have a chimney for Santa to come down. I might just have to make one of these! :)

Made by ME Monday!

An Old Pharmacy Box
____________________________
I found these great metal boxes at the thrift store the other day.
I paid $1 for each of them!

I worried for a minute that they might be antiques... probably not.
(Well, if they were...they're not anymore!)

I scrubbed the labels off...

spray painted them... I LOVE Krylon!

While they dried, I gathered my supplies...

stained them a little to look distressed and sanded the edges a bit...

mod podge on some cute paper to the center. Sand the edges of the paper.

add some super cute ribbon...

and VIOLA!

I am not sure what I'm going to use them for yet, but I think they turned out pretty darn cute! Happy Monday!

Chalk Talk

In keeping with the
BACK TO SCHOOL theme,
I've decided to make a post dedicated to chalk! :)
(although, I don't think that most school even use chalkboards these day. I think they are all dry erase? OH well!)

It all starts with a little can of chalkboard paint

that you can pick up at Home Depot

ORCraft At Home gives us the recipe to make our own chalkboard paint!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

3 tsp. acrylic paint
1 1/2 tsp. medium water based glaze
1/2 tsp. powder tile grout
The possibilities are endless! Here are some of my faves:

Cookie Sheet Calendar

Supplies Needed:
Cookie Sheet (make sure it's magnetic!!)
Scrapbook Paper
Mod Podge
Number Stickers
Circle Magnets
Ribbon
Rectangle Wood Pieces
LOTS of odds and ends
(ie. dice, buttons, game pieces, puzzle pieces, dominos, old keys, etc.)

My friend and I made this one.
Before we started, we sanded the cookie sheet to hlep the paint stick better, otherwise the spray paint with just bead up. Add you scrapbook paper, cut strips to make the squares for the days, and a spot for the month at the top. We used objects that we had laying around and even shopped at stores to find "the perfect things". Sea shells, buttons, game pieces, cookie cutters, etc. We added vinyl lettering numbers to some and put scrapbook numbers on the others to label each day. For each month, we used a rectangle piece of wood and mod podged the paper onto it. We found all sorts of cute odds and ends (that we found laying around our houses) to add to each month. The month pieces fit perfectly onto the back of the cookie sheet for storage!

Happy Calendaring!
