Have you been to Bath and Body Works lately? It's their Hello, Yellow SALE! Which means there's going to be tons on sale... and I head straight for the SOAP! I even found one lonely Christmas soap at the bottom of the barrel for $1.25! YAHOO!! I'm a little bit of a soap freak!
Well, here's my secret...
When you get home from Bath and Body Works, empty half of each bottle (of course, you will want to use the same scent of soaps) into another container.
I was just throwing out a bleach bottle, so I washed it out and used it for my hand soap solution.
Then, fill the bottle up to the line with water.
Make sure to leave enough room at the top of the bottle
to shake so the water and soap will mix.
Put your lid on and shake. You may have to rinse a few of them, but what could be better to rinse off than SOAP! Add a cute label to your hand soap refill container! My favorite thing about using a bleach container, is that it's childproof. So, if your child does happen to get a hold of this, they won't think it's kool-aid!
So, you are probably thinking that this won't be as efficient for cleaning your hands as a full bottle of soap would be. Let me just say... I'm a little bit of a hand washing geek (hence the amount of soap bottles I buy) and I've been doing this same method for a couple of years now. It really works! ;) It still smells good, does the trick of cleaning the germs, it's less harsh on your hands when it's diluted, and it will cost you half of what you normally spend!
Soap Sale= $3.33 each

ReplyDeleteDoes it still foam up as nice?
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I do something similar. I refill the foaming soap bottles with awesome smelling liquid castile soap and fill the rest with water. Cheap and effective!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!! I found some $1.25 non-Christmas foam soaps so I'm going to try this!!! Thanks!

I don't know if you watch the office but the first thing I thought of was the episode when Pam got really upset and Dwight for diluting the soap in the bathroom. Glad to know it still cleans the hands. Thanks

I do this even with the regular soap...not the creamy lotiony looking ones, but the regular clear antibacterial. It's more runny, but the amount of soap it pumps out in one pump is WAY too much and my kids don't understand the concept of pumping only half way. So I dilute half with water. It does make it more runny and it often spills over their hands, but for the most part it's saved me lots of money!
ReplyDeleteYou are SO stinkin cute!! Love the idea. We go through a ton of soap. Shannon @ lovingcouponsandmore.blogpot.com
ReplyDeleteyes, it still foams up just like the regular soap. You just have to be careful not to add too much water, or else it will be runny. Half and half works perfect! :)
ReplyDeleteSo simple yet so brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea! I have three little ones so I am constantly washing my hands and no matter how much lotion I use they seem to stay dry. I will definately be trying this! I hope you'll link this idea up to my Sew Crafty Saturday Party. ~April

ReplyDeleteWhat a great tip. ~Shen
ReplyDeleteJust like Shelly said, the only thing that matters is the pump. I used to work at this particular retailer.Once your foam pump bottles are empty, fill them half way with any kind of regular hand soap add water mix and there ya go foaming hand soap. I love being a cheap-o frugalista!
