DIY Cake Plates

{Made By Me Monday}
While the boys are away...
MOM will play make cake plates! My husband took my two boys camping for the weekend and I am in CAKE PLATE heaven! I've been collecting a few plates here and there, so this weekend was the perfect opportunity to get them all together.

I found these little glass candlesticks at the Dollar Tree!and this plate at Hobby Lobby for $3.00
GLUE them together and what do you get? A very cute cake plate!
EASY peasy!
and gorgeous!
I found this white vase at the Goodwill for $1.50
and this square yellow plate there the same day!
GLUE them together!
That's it!
I found this metal candlestick at Goodwill for $1.00. It's from partylite so it's pretty heavy!
This metal tray was 60 cents!
They are a perfect match!
I found this damask plate at Hobby Lobby for $3.00. I haven't glued it to a candlestick yet, I'm still waiting for the right fit. Although, I don't think the glass one from the Dollar Tree is bad! :)
Only a few more to put together and I will have a collection!
It's SO addicting! :)

  8. Okay, I've seen this idea all over and I think they're gorgeous but the ones without a plate on the bottom, don't they tip over really easy? I want to make one but I think they look really unstable, I don't want mine falling over easily.

  11. So Cute. Love the damask. I use a glue gun just for the simple fact that after I use it, I can soak it in water and I can pull the plate and candlestick apart. This makes storing much easier.

  13. Thanks so much for the sweet comments!! I used just E6000 glue. You can find it at any craft store. It's perfect for gluing glass together. The cake domes I actually found at Goodwill too! Both on different days, it's hit and miss.

I need a cute cake plate- and for the price of one plain glass one, I could buy 4 or 5 of your style!

  19. Hi Marni, stopping by from Craft-O-Maniac link party. You do like cake plates! :) They're really nice, I like especially the damask one, I've already have a candlestick so I'll totally try this when I find a nice plate. Thanks for sharing.
